It depicts the last supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples before his crucifixion and the moment when Judas says, “One of you will betray me”.

The painting shows Jesus sitting calmly in the center of the table. The Apostles create a dynamic composition with their different reactions to this statement. Leonardo has paid particular attention to the facial expression, hand gestures and body language of each of the apostles, reflecting their individual reactions in detail. This makes the painting both emotionally and visually impressive.
